The importance of someone’s life doesn't matter as long as their death distracts people from what’s really going on. Germany and Salem; they wanted the mass hysteria around them to stop so they murdered innocent people when the opportunity made itself available. The Holocaust and The Salem Witch Trails are a lot alike because of their many cruel ways of dealing with the hysteria around them. In The Salem Witch Trials, the elderly, the poor, and a slave where the first to be accused of witchcraft (A+E Networks). Germany accused the Jews of causing the death of Christ and killing christian children. Jews were even accused for causing natural disasters (A+E Networks). These examples show that people were accusing others considered not as important as most of society just so everyone would go along with the accusations and arrest. These accusations only started to get innocent people killed. The deaths of the accused were unjust and cruel. Salem hung the “witches,” pressed Giles Corey, and caused people to die in prison (A+E Networks). Under Hitler’s rule, people were killed with poisonous gas (Sheperd). Society didn’t care because it made them forget their problems. They decided to kill people for relief. The trials went on for months while the Holocaust went on for years, but both will be remembered for the deaths of innocents. People’s lives don’t matter. That’s what these civilizations unknowingly show. They accused “lesser” people, locked them away, and eventually killed them. This was all done so that their problems could be forgotten.
