Why does learning about politics related information seem to be long and bland? Politics is not my area of interest and will probably never be. Nevertheless, I went to the event, “Why Equality is Likely to Make a Comeback,” on Wednesday, from five to seven. I had no idea what I was going to expect, and surely I did not think it would be a political discussion. When the professor Inglehart started talking more and more modernization and inequality, as discussed I was able to connect some of what I had learned from this two hour lecture, to my life, and experiences.
At the lecture, there were many college students, and few faculty members. It was taking place at the student center auditorium, with Professor Inglehart who was discussing the rise of inequality with many references to Trump, Xenophobic Populist parties from France, to Russia to Venezuela. …show more content…
For instance, when he talked about how the top one percent today in America own has much wealth as the ninety percent. In addition, Professor Inglehart also conversed about equality and justice and how inequality among the rich families is rising. Although this is true, it is also is not justifiable that the bottom ninety percent have live and accept that. He also touched upon the rise of gays, and same sex marriage. Inglehart has said that the rise of gays and same sex marriage was unthinkable until this generation, which started to grow back in the 1970s and they began to change by student rebellion. This made me surmise how much the world is changing in a different direction. With gays and same sex marriage being unimaginable once upon a time, it makes me ponder that many other things that are under the same category of unthinkable, will be accepted and approved based on this generation
