The health information technology for economic and clinical health act or HITECH act is an act that president Obama signed in 2009. The HITECT act was designed to improve American health care by switching medical information from paper to technology. The act wanted health care providers to adopt the use of electronic health record(EHR) systems. This act is important because it will decrease the amount of errors due to paper medical records.
