1. What is diversity? Why is diversity valued?
The definition of diversity is the quality or state of having many different forms, types, ideas, etc.
Diversity is valued because valuing diversity is worthwhile; it increases the number and quality of ideas; it improves business decisions; it leads to greater customer satisfaction; it helps to retain your best people; it helps to attract good calibre people keen to join an enlightened employer. When you have diversity it can give you a great choice of people with different skills and different cultures.
2. What is ethnocentrism? In what ways can ethnocentrism be detrimental to a society?
The definition of ethonocentrism is having or based on the idea that your own group or culture is better or more important than others.
Ethnocentrism makes people judge before they have a chance to they have a chance to evaluate the situation or the person. This can harm not only the person, but can damge any choice that you might make based on the fact that you are being ethnocentristic.
Define emigration and immigration.
The definiton of emigration to leave a country or region to live elsewhere.
The definition of immigration is to enter and usually become established; especially : to come into a country of which one is not a native for permanent residence
