To start off with, some research suggests that Chipotle is actually an ethical company when it comes to sustainability. Recycle Nation says, “Chipotle and the other participating restaurants have pledged to reduce 50% of the food waste they send to landfills through composting and other waste prevention plans” (Chipotle’s Sustainable). Sustainability is the ability to be used and not destroyed. It is a very important ethical issue because it helps reduce the harmful impact to the environment. NPR communicates, “Way, way down at the bottom of the page that announces Chipotle's new policy, far below the headline that says, "Food With Integrity; G-M-Over It," you'll find this sentence: "Many of the beverages sold in our restaurants contain genetically modified ingredients, including those containing corn syrup, which is almost always made from GMO corn” (Charles). Many foods on Chipotle’s menu contain high fructose corn syrup including the tortillas, soda, and cheese which is hazardous to the consumers health.
