For instance, “the ethics of care values the ties we have with other persons and the actual relationships that partly constitute our identity.” The senses that the ethics of care is love, empathy, and sympathy. The actions that are recommended by the ethics of care is time and a relationship with close family and friends. For example, the ethics of care “is unique to the intimacy of friends and family.” People with this mindset are a little biased because they do not want anything to happen to their loved ones. This ethical value counteracts the ethics of deontology.
Deontology however is the opposite of the Ethics of Care. Let’s look on how Kant explains his form of deontology. Deontology is known as “ruled-based ethics.” Kant has three forms of Deontology. For example, Alex is married and has two children (Tia and Brianna). Tia has a mental disability and Brianna does not. In the theory of the Ethics of Care, she would have to treat Tia differently than Brianna because Tia needs more time and care than Brianna. Virginia Heid points out that “Caring for individual people is a complex reaction…1) responding to specific needs of a person takes skill.” There are special people that are equipped to care for those in need like a stay at home nurse or a stay at home mom. Not everyone has the time and mental patients to care for loved one in need. Alex is a stay at home mom. Alex is going to teach her girls the same morals and how to survive in life, but she will teach them in two separate ways. The Ethics of Care in my opinion is a better approach or theory to follow when deciding a family or relationships
