Do the events you go through ever affect the kind of person you are? In the book Great Gatsby, F. Scott Fitzgerald illustrates how events can affect people's lives through the characters. At the beginning of the book we are told a story through Nick’s eyes. We learn about the three main characters, Daisy, Gatsby, and Tom. Throughout the book Gatsby, Daisy, and Tom all change by the experiences they go through.
When Gatsby was younger he did not have much. He was always jealous of people that had a lot of money. At the beginning of the movie he always believe that Daisey loved him and only him. When Gatsby finds out that Daisy also loves Tom as well, Gatsby is really surprised. Daisy finds out that Gatsby wasn’t the person she thought he was. He wasn't very honest with her and didn't tell her all the truth. After Daisy goes back to Tom, Gatsby says, “I suppose Daisy will call too”(Fitzgerald 154). This explains that Gatsby thinks that Daisy wants to be with him. That she will come back to him eventually. Nick knows that Daisy doesn’t want to be apart of Gatsby’s life.

Tom, Daisy, and Gatsby all go through major changes that all deal with each other. Tom changes because Daisy started to turn the tables on him and he didn’t realize it. Daisy changed because she thought that she wanted Gatsby at the beginning of the book, but at the end she realized what kind of person he was and she didn’t want to be apart of his life.
