Sackett et al (1996) defined evidence based medicine as the " the conscientious, explicit and judicious use of current best evidence in making decision about the care of the individual patient. It means integrating individual clinical expertise the best available external clinical evidence from systematic research. The use of evidence based medicine in radiology is not a new phenomenon, in fact the use of evidence based research has been used in radiology as early as the 1990's (link in FB) However the contribution of the research radiographer to the evidence base has grown dramatically in the last decade. It is only by learning from evidence based research that we can advance our imaging techniques, providing the highest quality images while keeping the dose as low as possible to the patient.
