Lust; It’s Contagious
Lust is defined as, “uncontrolled or illicit sexual desire or appetite; lecherousness.” It is the leading problem in our society. You see lust everywhere you turn. It’s on the internet, on T.V, and even in the news. Lust is an issue in today’s world that can cause relationships to slowly crumble.
Lust is a deadly sin, and we are bombarded with it every day on the television, movies, the internet, advertisements, and music. Pornography plays a big part in lust. According to webroot.com, every second, 28,258 people in the United States are watching pornography on the internet. Pornography can lead to marital dissatisfaction, which in turn can lead the other partner to finding someone who has the same interests in what they have. Statistics also show that 30% to 60% of Americans will engage in infidelity. Television shows today are not shying away from the concept of lust. The television show Satisfaction, is about a married couple whose marriage is lacking activity so the wife gets involved with a male escort. This television show is giving married couples the idea that it is not a problem to cheat on your spouse. Although lust is an increasing problem today, there are some people who would disagree with this harsh reality.

With lust, there are no strings attached. A person can be a free agent and when something better comes along, they are free to go after it. People who only feel lust, shield their feelings and save themselves from having a broken heart. Even though they may think they are saving themselves from a broken heart they are cheating themselves out of a meaningful relationship.
