I guess you can make the assumption of that when people say they’re color blind they think of it as a positive outlook on race and people in general. They like to think of us as human beings and all the same instead of really looking deeply into reality and seeing we’re different because of our skin. In america you can also make the assumption that this saying of being colorblind and that were not different is mostly said by the majority race. Also you can make the assumption that “colorblindness” is rarely said in any minority community. I agree with Jana King because saying you’re colorblind in a way is technically lying to yourself and to me is basically a coping mechanism for people to accept people from other races that are different …show more content…
I believe even though the treatment or thoughts aren’t as aggressive they were back then and what some people actually feel won’t be said. Being a minority you can still tell that some people feel this way and this doesn’t necessarily make you hate that person's race but it really makes you a lot closer to someone of your race because they’re facing the exact same thing you are and this brings you closer. This example for the most part is even more human than having to do with race because, we’re close with people that have the same interests as us but we tend to be even more closer to the people that face the same struggles and hardships as us because you know this person through and through because they were weak with you. People that face these times with you hold you up from falling even though they feel like falling themselves and you do the same thing to them which makes a bond between two people a lot stronger and as america hasn’t taken this step over the hill of ending racism, prejudice, and non-equality sadly you will rarely see this strong bond between two different races. I also think this is a reason from an African American standpoint why we accept our race so strongly because of all the strife and hardships that our ancestors faced in the past and and as a race to make it as far as we have makes you proud beyond words and I believe this is the biggest reason why minorities hate the statement “colorblind” because the people that say this in a way are disregarding all of the challenges we’ve overcome as a race and the heights greatness we’ve achieved as different people that we were never suppose to
