The third example would be, “Look like the time. Bear welcome in your eye, Your hand, your tongue. Look like th’ innocent flower…” (Act I,V,69-70.)
Lady Macbeth is telling Macbeth the plan and in order to deceive the king he must be as welcoming as possible. Shakespeare was trying to show that Macbeth has to be kind. In order to kill the king, he has to make him feel welcomed. Secondly, Shakespeare uses metaphors to create an expressive style to add to the language. One example of a metaphor he uses is, “O, full of scorpions is my mind, dear wife” (Act III,ii,40.)
The quote is showing Macbeth's mind is full of dark thoughts. Showing that scorpions represent evil causing him to not care about murdering. Second example would be, “Life's but a walking shadow, a poor player, that struts and frets his hour upon the stage, and then is heard in more” (Act V,V,26-28.) The quote is saying shortly after Macbeth finds out about his wife's death he speaks of her life. Shakespeare is comparing Macbeth existence to being a ghost.
