As I laid in bed I thought about that red fish. I woke up the next morning and we left out again. Just like the morning before the sunrise was beautiful, peeking out behind the water and the clouds. I could tell it was going to be a good day. We stayed closer inshore, we threw out our lines and the waiting game began. I felt a bump, then it was not just one but three, bump, bump, bump. That was when the fish took off. This didn’t feel like a shark, I became excited again. Honestly, I would have been satisfied with a shark, but what I really desired was a red fish. I reeled, he tugged, it was a process I thought would never end. Then I saw the tail and I saw the dot, a red fish tail with that single dot. It was three and a half feet long which was good enough in my book. After everyone caught everything we could, we left Grand Isle. I could smell the salt in the air and this time we seen the sunset filled with even more color. It fell perfectly behind the “come back and see you soon” sign for Grand Isle. I still go back to my favorite little town every year and will continue to for the years to
