Zeus presented Pandora to Epimetheus “afterthought” because Epimetheus is unwise unlike his intelligent brother Prometheus. Epimetheus, forgetting and disregarding Prometheus’s warning, Epimetheus accepts Pandora. Pandora also brought a jar with her, not a box as commonly thought. The jar contained all sorts of evil and illnesses in it. Some versions of the myth says that when Epiemetheus married Pandora, the gods gave the jar to Pandora and told her not to open it. Because the gods gave her curiosity, Pandora couldn’t help but think about opening the jar and resisted. Finally, one day Pandora gave into curiosity and opened the jar. The jar contained death, suffer, pain, diseases, and all sorts of miseries that has plagued the human race ever since Pandora opened the jar. The jar also contained and hope. When Pandora closed the jar, everything escaped except for hope. Others says that the jar was originally hidden by Epimetheus that contained the blessing to humankind from Prometheus.
