Manette has also had his fair share of revenge. Dr. Manette was called upon to help with an urgent case from the Marquis and his brother, he was taken to the Evremonde Estate where he met a young woman who needed his help; she was traumatized, but in his attempt to save herahe died. Next, he was taken outside to view another patient this time it was a young man. He had a severe sword wound to his chest and was not going to survive long, there was not much Dr. Manette could do. The brother told Manette, “...then I tracked the brother here, and last night climbed in-a common dog, but sword in hand...he drew to defend himself”(320). The Marquis had raped the sister, and the girls brother was trying to defend her honor. The Evermonde brothers asked Dr. Manette to not speak of what he had seen, and Dr. Manette told them he would not. When the doctor arrived at home, he wrote a letter about what had happened because the case needd to be reported. Later, in a letter he wrote in prison, it said, “It brought me here, it brought me to my grsve...the two brothers crossed the road from a dark corner and identified me with a single gesture...he took from his pcoet the letter I had written”
