As stated by Demsas, some of the first laws for exclusionary zoning in the U.S. were to cease people of color, in particular African Americans from building in areas that were Caucasian dominant. As an example, in the Bay Area the more residential single-family homes the area is, the higher the population of the area is Caucasian (2021). Due to the segregation caused by the exclusionary zoning it limits the employment opportunities and the access to education to low-income families that can be found in wealthier neighbourhoods by keeping the racial minorities out of these neighbourhoods. Some statistics show that one in four black Americans and one in six Hispanic Americans
