In the previous task I did a presentation on the physical and technological resources of Tesco. I will know explain how the management of human, physical and technological resources can improve the performance of Tesco’s.
Management within Tesco involves careful planning and managing resources well. Careful planning means being able to strategically plan for the business, this includes managing the correct amount of staff, dividing suitable pay and having the correct staff in for different days of the week. Anticipating how external factors will affect these plans is crucial as you can never determine what the changes of the business might be, external factors could include anything from the lead up to Christmas, Easter or even stocking camping equipment for the lead up to festivals. Another factor management deals with is being able to develop and share functional objectives. For example, the manager could issue different objectives to different staff; he could deliver these to certain employees depending on their suitability to the task and whether they are capable of it. Identifying the resources required to meet these objectives staff need to understand these resources and have their input to improve them. For example ensuring that you have employees with the right skills is very important because employees will not be confused when dealing with the resources. In order to acquire the necessary resources, you will have to consider finance, whether spending the money on employing more staff will benefit the store and setting milestones for each department with the given budget that they have. Overall, if you carefully plan and constantly review your progress towards acquiring these resources then the management of your store should not be an issue.
It is extremely important that Tesco manage resources carefully in order to maximise store development. This includes managing the human, physical and financial resources in order to improve the store. The business must ensure that they have the correct resources and the right amount. This includes them having enough stock for customers to be satisfied as well as staff and equipment. This is critical in order for Tesco to succeed. As a manager, short term and long term planning is necessary for Tesco to ensure that the right products are purchased, the right employees are recruited and that they understand how to work with technological resources, and therefore there is no confusion when working with the resources. For example, when working the tills employees must be able to use them correctly in order to have satisfied customers and therefore improve profits.
Each functional area has responsibilities within Tesco to manage their resources. If the resource management
