Part 1 This case study indicates how using observation in an early childhood setting is an asset for pre-school teachers. In the case study I was able to identify that the child has a problem. He is unable to grasp the crayons and use building blocks because he was unable to hold them properly. I also noted the aggressive behavior where he pushes away the block when his peer helps him and his withdrawal for the rest of the day. Sometimes the child may just need to develop his gross and fine motor skill, but my instinct and observation tells me that he may need more help.
In this case study another of my concern is his parent attitude towards her son’s dilemma. Her lack of awareness or denial can affect the help that maybe needed to help in his development. There have to be a balance …show more content…
It also give me understandings on why getting to know the cultural background of a child’s family helps the teacher reassess their teaching approaches. In an article, Parent-Teachers collaboration strategies that work, “In order to have a successful partnership, each party must value what the other brings to the table.” It also goes on to say, “As parents and teachers learn the value of this collaboration, they can create an environment that supports the ability for all students to succeed.” Therefore, teachers need to form a positive relationship with the child’s parent so that together they can work together for what’s best for the child. As a teacher you may sometimes encounter problems with parents but you still have to try to work together with them to help the child. For instance, in my first blog the parent had a positive attitude and was eager to assist, but in the research paper the parents are still in denial. This did not discourage me from wanting to help the child and I still plan to persuade the parents to work with me to help the
