The whistle blower must voice their concerns or suspicions about what is disturbing them as soon as possible and they must also try to confirm what the practice is that is concerning them and why. The concerns should be reported to the relevant person for example the headteacher or named safeguarding member as soon as possible
The concerns should also be put down in writing giving background details, names, witness names (if any) dates, places and any other relevant information, as sufficient grounds for concern must be given, it is important that any information is based on facts only and not on assumptions or opinions. Anyone who whistle blows has a legal right to protection and the Headteacher, Named Safeguarding Member of Staff or their Supervisor have a duty to support any members of staff who report any incidents of poor practice or unprofessional conduct which puts childrens or young peoples welfare at risk.
Any individual that has been subject to unproven allegations regarding abuse also has the the full right of protection for the duration of the
