The two motivating factors for American Imperialism were economical and cultural reasons. The first factor for American imperialism is economical in nature. America needed a new supply of resources to fuel the growing industrial boom that was going on in this time. America also need new markets to sell the surplus of finished products they were producing. America hoped to gain some of economical benefits through imperialism. The second factor for American imperialism is cultural in nature. This was considered the time of the "white man's burden." This was an idea were Americans thought they were superior to the people they were imperializing. Basically, it was the Americans' duty to bring superior civilization and religion to these
