Being a paramedic is a challenging and demanding job, but making a meaningful difference to a patient’s life makes the job rewarding and the feeling invaluable. As a paramedic, you make a difference to people’s lives day in day out whether it be assisting them after a fall, treating them for shock or keeping them alive by performing CPR. Being a paramedic, it is inevitable that I will encounter situations that may be life-threatening or life changing for the patient; I realise and understand that some patients may be able to recover from the situation and some may not. As a paramedic I want to be able to be able to further my skills and development and achieve my main goal and become a senior paramedic.

Within my job role I am continually communicating with the customers and providing them with a high level of service and treating each customer with respect. Sometimes my job requires me adapt my approach with dealing with the customer as I have to deal with some customers who may be partially sighted, deaf or physically or mentally disabled. This job has substantially developed my interaction and communication skills and taught me that I may be required to adapt my approach to care and service to suit the individual.
