Kids lose their knowledge of the previous year, could become less responsible, and more lazy. That can happen, and I've seen it happen before. But don't you think kids deserve a time to have no worries? The whole school year we sit in a cramped room full of people and rarely have time for ourselves. When moving to the next grade level, most teacher don't use all of the materials that were taught in the previous year. But I do feel that kids during the summer should pick up a book and read just to keep them going. But that is also their designated time to forget about learning and school, because it's their time to have fun. Most parents would would also say that summer is expensive.
