Sea coal was abundant on the shores of England. This created an affordable power source for all of the machines to run off of. This led to cruel mining conditions for an underpaid poor but soon steam engines could mine too. Coal was being pulled out of the earth at an unprecedented speed and good were being made as well. The coal was not abundant on the mainland of Europe so England once again held an advantage. All of this coal had to be transported to the cities though so finished goods could be made and exported. This lead to canals, roads and railroads being built in Brittan to transport raw materials to the factories to put out finished goods. The canals system became very intricate as a result. The railroads decreased travel time drastically and could also carry many more goods at a time. Since many of Brittan’s cities were not on a coast this was beneficial so that goods could be transported more efficiently but still these goods needed to be
