I agree with Adrian in saying that Yancy was not arbiter of honest and moral purity. In some ways I think Yancy actions aligned his interests with that of society. For instance, when Yancy defiled Evan Shookâs property multiple times he wanted the house gone because it was blocking his view and scaring away the dear. However, Yancy also knew that Shook had paid some people off to build that property higher than it was supposed to be. In regards to Yancy misrepresenting himself as a police officer, Yancy knew he needed to solve that case so he could get reinstated sooner.
