How does equilibrium work? With certain chemicals such as Fe(NO3)3, KSCN and NaH2PO4. What was done was we took 6 test tubes and put specific chemicals into each one of the test tubes, then stirred or put it into hot or cold water to observe the color. What I found was that with heat the color became lighter and with the cold water it went lighter with not as much color. What I concluded was that with the heat and the cold they used that to reach equilibrium with the chemicals they also bonded to hopefully reach equilibrium.
How these chemicals attempted to reach equilibrium was they tried to bond with each other within the test tube. This can also be achieved by adding heat/pressure to the mixture, forcing the reactants or products to go one way or the other. Our experiment consisted of working with 6 test tubes and filling them with water and various chemicals such as FE(NO3)3,KSCN,NaH2OPO4. My hypothesis was when …show more content…
To begin the experiment, we filled 2 beakers with 250 ml of water. To continue, we looked at the initial color of the FE(NO3)3 and KSCN solutions. Third, we received the chemicals from Mrs. Dean. To continue after that we added 10 drops of water into test tube 1 with FESCN2+ ( the rest of the test tubes are filled with that ) then we recorded the color (dark orange). Fourth we added 10 drops of FE(NO3)3 then recorded the color ( dark red ). After that step we did the same with KSCN then recorded the color ( dark red ). Sixth, we added 10 drops of water to the test tube. This time we put in an ice bath and recorded the color ( lighter red ). Following that we did the same but we put it in heated water and recorded the color ( yellow/orange almost gold ). Finally we added NaH2PO4- and recorded the color and it ended up being almost
