Gatsby is born into a poor family, and with a different name. When he gets older, he changes his name and gains a massive wealth. He builds his fortune to impress his ‘one true love’ Daisy. While serving in the army Gatsby was stationed in Louisville, where he met Daisy. As a result of him having little money at the time, Gatsby concluded that he was not the first person Daisy would choose to marry. Gatsby left Daisy, so he could one day return, a wealthier and better man, hoping she would then accept his hand in marriage. After Gatsby left Tom Buchanan stepped in, and thus Daisy married Tom. During the Roaring Twenties, many new trends began to rise. Flappers which were fashionable woman who defied the conventional standards of behavior, flaunted their styles and figure, changing the way that women were viewed at the time. The automobile industry boomed, and because of a rise in the stock market, everyone was buying cars. Industries and the economy were not the only things to rise, crime did too. Gangsters, and mobs began illegal activities which many individuals participated in. These new trends became attractions for most social groups, and most of the time once people joined the fun, they wanted to keep it going. Women began to to go out with their friends more often, everyone was driving cars, and many people participated in the illegal activity of
