I was an active member of the FFA. I raised turkeys, chickens, and pigs. I competed on every Leadership Development Event team that had an open spot. I gave it my best at Dairy Cattle Judging, which is hard to do when the closes thing to a dairy cow in San Antonio is a donkey. I served in numerous officer positions, and always looked forward to who would be filling my spot next year. It is very easy to say that FFA has impacted my life in too many ways to put on paper. I am thankful for every opportunity, good or bad, I had in the past eight years because everything only made me stronger. FFA will always have a large part of my heart and support. FFA has opened my eyes to the need of strong and determined teenagers passionate about agriculture. Agricultural knowledge, advocacy, and achievement are necessary for the future of our society. Having a passion for the betterment of my community is what FFA means to me. I spent a solid three years wearing a sash and waving to little girls who truly believed I had my own castle. I served as the Duchess and Queen of our local town’s festival queen court, The Boerne Berges Fest. I traded in my dirndl and crown wreath for cowboy boots and a sparkly tiara, serving as the Kendall County Fair and Rodeo Queen. A firm believer in speaking your mind, being independent, and doing the right thing has enabled me to grow as a leader in my community. As a young leader, I have learned that finding teenagers who are passionate about something is hard to come by. I feel that my community needs to bring high attention to the area of youth leadership. Nurturing young adults to become desirable and active members of the community is necessary for the growth and betterment of our society. Youth leadership is the building blocks of our world. These young adults will shape the world. It is up to the members of their community to give them the positive push they need to reach their full potential.
