The main Character, Guy Montag, demonstrates many immoral qualities. Near the beginning of the novel, Montag is an obedient Fireman who has no qualms with going against the law; however, Montag introduces the first immoral lesson in the story. While Montag is returning from work one night, he meets a young girl named Clarisse McClellen. She is a young woman who turns against the law by being a pedestrian and conversing with her family. Rebelling against the law is seen as immoral, but Montag instantly begins to develop feelings for Clarisse, even though they are separated in age by several years. Clarrise also begins to bring other immoral actions out of Montag. When she walks home with him after he leaves the fire station, she begins to plant seeds of doubt and deception into his mind. She tells him what the past might have been, and it begins to make his creative mind bloom. Clarrise’s actions spark the immoral qualities that push Montag throughout the rest of the novel. His blatant disobedience of the law, his mistreatment of his wife, and his murderous outbursts after he is found with his books are all immoral actions that define Guy Montag, creating an immoral message delivered by the novel, causing Fahrenheit 451 to be seen an as bad novel in the eyes of a moralist
