Ray Douglas Bradbury has spent an extensive 70 year career in the writing field. In that time, he has published over 500 literary works. He is most well known for his books: Fahrenheit 451, The Martian Chronicles, and Dandelion Wine. On August 22, 1920, Ray was born in the city of Waukegan, Illinois. He grew up with his parents Leonard and Esther, and his two older brothers.

Name and describe the main characters. Are they static or dynamic? What motivates them?
Guy Montag: He is a dynamic character. Guy is the main character in the book, that is told from third person. The book starts with him having the mentality of a true fireman, thinking that books are the evil in society. By the end of the book, he changes, and realize that books cause no harm, and it is the avoidance of books that is the problem.
Mildred Montag: Mildred stays a static character throughout the book. While she is Guy’s wife, she never undergoes the same kind of thought changes that guy does. When guy started sharing his books with Mildred, as well as her friends, she wasted no time in calling the firefighters to burn Guy’s books.
Captain Beatty: Beatty is the captain of the firefighters and the antagonist of this novel. Beatty is not ignorant when it comes to his distaste for books. He has been through the whole cycle as indicated by his conversation with Montag, "Read a few lines and off you go over the cliff. Bang, you're ready to blow up the world, chop off heads, knock down women and children, destroy authority. I know, I've been through it all."(Bradbury
