Helen Burns is an extremely devout young woman who knows her beliefs and lives by the symbolic virtues of love, faith and self-control. Helen sees the positive in everything and everyone. She believes in the “New Testament” and holds the view of “Love your enemies; bless them that hate you” (Bronte 65)... because she never complains about Miss Scatcherd threatening her.
