Fall Exam Essay: Say No To Dress Code Policy
A legging is defined as tight-fitting stretch pants, typically worn by women or girls. Leggings are super comfortable. The elastic waistline will feel good on a female’s body all day long; no matter if she’s sitting at a desk studying for finals or she’s in class learning about the human brain. In Newman Smith High School, it’s against the school’s policy to wear leggings to school. Anyone female caught wearing leggings to school, will be sent to DMC. Should female students who are willing to learn be sent to DMC where they learn nothing just because they have leggings on?
A female student of Newman Smith High School was sent to DMC last week for violating the school’s dress code policy. The undisclosed student was sent to DMC because according to the administrator, “the outfit worn was inappropriate for school.” The outfit described by the student was a yellow dress with long splits and thick leggings were worn underneath the dress. According to the Dress Code Policy, it says that “Leggings may be worn under a garment that is no shorter than 4 inches from the top of the knee.” Clearly, the student did nothing wrong and she should have not been sent to the DMC. Parents or even the administrators of Newman Smith High School might think or even say that wearing leggings will distract the boys or even seduce the male teachers. As long as the girls are not dressing up like street corner girls, leggings with a shirt covering the behind is appropriate for school and is not in any way seductive. Sending students to DMC just because they are not wearing the right clothes is absurd because, when the students are sent to DMC, they do nothing in there and they learn nothing.
