The 1968 Act has been amended on a number of occasions. The first major review occurred in 1974 by Copyright Law Review Committee (CLRC). This advisory body CLRC produced a number of reports regarding Australian copyright reform till 2005. The Copyright Regulations 1969, the Copyright Tribunal (Procedure) Regulations 1969 and the Copyright (International Protection) Regulations 1969 specify matters related to the operation of the Copyright Act.
The copyright act protects the following things:
• Work- The 1968 Act protects original literary, dramatic, musical and artistic works. In order to be effective, the work must be made by a resident or citizen of Australia, or made or first published in Australia.
• Literary works including books, poems and newspaper articles are protected under this act but it does not specifically protect names and titles.
• Artistic works category takes account of paintings, photographs, sculptures, engravings, sketches, blueprints, drawings, plans, maps and buildings or models of buildings, irrespective of the artistic quality of the work.
• Subject-matter other than works- The Copyright Act also protects sound recordings, films, radio and television broadcasts and published editions of
