When talking about the fastest cars, people tend to talk about speed, but the truth is that the top speed is something to brag about and cannot really be experienced.
Land Speed:
Some of the fastest street-legal cars include the Nissan GTR, Porsche 911 Turbo and the Bugatti Veyron. The Nissan GTR has a horsepower of 550hp with a top speed of 195mph and accelerates from 0-60mph under 2.7 seconds. The Porsche 911 Turbo has a horsepower of 530hp with a top speed of 208mph and accelerates from 0-60mph under 2.7 seconds. Finally the Bugatti Veyron is a huge auto mobile with over 1000 horse power with a top speed that reaches over 210 mph and accelerates from 0-60mph under 3.5 seconds. These cars will shred down the road!
Air Speed:
Some of the fastest vehicles in the air include the NASA X-43, North American X-15, and the SR-71 Blackbird. The NASA X-43 is an experimental jet powered aircraft that can fly at almost 10 times the speed of sound. It has a top speed of 7000 mph. The North American X-15, was the first winged aircraft to fly at hypersonic speeds, it reaches a top speed of 4250 mph. Finally the SR-71 Blackbird, now discontinued but “was the pre-eminent reconnaissance aircraft for days” says Bob Van der Linden, chairman of aeronautics at the National Air and Space Museum. The SR-71 Blackbird reaches a top speed of over 2200 mph.
