Father Interview Research Paper

I knew that interviewing my best friend’s dad will suit well for this interview. Since I consider him as a second dad due to the strong relationship we have for one another. He, Wilson, was comfortable enough to talk about his past. We conducted this interview on a porch on a Saturday afternoon. Throughout this interview, I asked about his childhood, his education, his goals and his views of the American Dream.

Wilson smiled and chuckled before answering this question. His facial expression showed immense happiness that he is here, the land of the free, rather than his home in Peru. Growing up in a village of Peru, he faced difficult obstacles. First, he talks about the farm his family had and the long and hard work he put in every day.

With this, he was never encouraged to go to college but he knew that going to college will better himself because he will be able to have a job with a higher pay wage that will support his family. After obtaining his degree, Wilson immigrated to the United States in 1997 because he knew that there are more opportunities to expand his American Dream. As of today, he has not successfully completed his American Dream because of the difficulty of seeking better job opportunities for himself to be able to buy a house for his family and provide more basic needs. Wilson was not able to achieve his American Dream due to the September eleven attacks in 2001 that affected the economy. The September eleven attacks affected the economy by the drastic drop of the DOW, in which deepened the 2001 recession. During this period of time, Wilson explained that he only was able to rent houses. Hence the fact that he has not achieved his American Dream, he knows that his parents would be proud of what he has achieved so
