What is fear? Fear is defined in the dictionary as an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain, or a threat. Every person in the world has a set of fears that they have been either born with or an event has given them. Whether it be clowns, spider, small spaces, or just speaking in public, everyone is scared of something and these fears are what control people’s lives and actions. In the short story and eventual film, 1408, Mike Enslin checks into a room that causes him to develop fears for the color of yellow, telephones, and of hallucinating and seeing things that are not there.
