Infertility affects approximately 1 out of every 6 couples and this does not include same-sex couples or trans couples (Female Infertility). Infertility causes many emotional and mental problems within the person or couple that it affects, which can lead to even more serious problems. Over the years, artificial insemination has become increasingly popular, making couples or persons who are infertile be able to conceive and carry their own child. About 1.5 babies born in the U.S. are conceived using ART (assisted reproduction technology), which artificial insemination plays a big role in (Ding, 2015).
Artificial insemination is the introduction of semen into the vagina or cervix of a female by any method other than sexual intercourse(Rogers,2016).

For a couples to be diagnosed with infertility they must be unsuccessful in conceiving a child for at least a year. Female infertility plays a part in fifty percent of all infertility cases (Female Infertility). Although, women have many causes for infertility, the most common are problems with ovulation, damage to the fallopian tubes or uterus, and problems with the cervix. Ovulation is when the egg is released from the ovaries, that being so, ovulation problems are anything that can delay, stop, or improperly release an egg from the ovaries. A number of the most commonly heard about ovulation problems are: hormone imbalance, cyst on the ovaries, extremely brief menstrual cycles, and excessive exercise resulting in very low body fat. Another cause of female infertility is damage to the fallopian tubes or uterus. The fallopian tubes are tubes that connect to the ovaries and uterus and deliver the egg from the ovaries to the uterus. The uterus is where the egg develops into a fetus or is shed with the uterine lining during menstrual cycles. A few things conditions that can cause them damage are: endometriosis, previous infections, and a previous ectopic pregnancy. Endometriosis is a condition is which endometrial tissue (or uterine tissue) grows outside the uterus resulting in pelvic pain. Cervix problems are abnormal cervical mucus
