A Fetal Surgeon is relatively new, and very complex, so very few hospitals have a Fetal Surgeon in their department. A Fetal Surgeon is a doctor who performs surgery on a developing fetus while the baby is still in the uterus (in utero). The doctor usually performs these procedures on life-threatening birth defects. In this paper we are going to read about education, cost, three different colleges, duties performed, places of employment, salary, certification/licenses, schedule,personal qualities, attendance and grades, and specialties. From what ZipRecuter has on their website, the average yearly salary is $339,174, and the average monthly salary is $28,264. $6,522 is the average salary for weekly, and $163, is the average salary for hourly. The top ten cities with the highest salary that goes above the national average are Berkley, California with an annual salary of $428,499, and Renton, Washington with an annual salary of $416,442. Those two are the two highest paying cities for a Fetal Surgeon. Boston, Massachusetts has an annual salary of $402,217, and Boston is in the middle of the ten cities. Scottsbluff, Nebraska's annual salary is $396,435 which is one of the lowest ten cities. Some certifications and licenses you could get from this are your Bachelors degree, a Doctor of Medicine Degree as mentioned in the education portion. A normal schedule for a surgeon is getting to work on time, meeting with your patients, performing any surgeries you have planned, checking up on your patients, and performing any paperwork you may have to do. When being a Fetal surgeon, there are some personal qualities that you need to have. Some of these include good communication, a bright and eager mind, manual dexterity, adaptation to changing environments, leadership, and emotional resilience. The reason you need good communication is for when you are talking to the patient and families and when you are talking to your team, so that everything is clear and understood by all.A bright and eager mind will show the patient, and their families what you know your doing, and will show your peers, coworkers and boss that you are ready to learn. Manual dexterity is an important skill to have because it has to do with your hands, and when you are in surgery the portion is down with your hands. Having the ability to adapt to a changing environment is a good quality to have because when you are in the operating room, one little thing could change the whole operation, and you would need to start thinking on your
