The Finpanfly is only found in the bottom of the Mariana Trench which is 36,070ft deep. Since it is so deep the coral and other plants are almost non-existent. Although, there are a few microbial mats down there. Microbial mats are weird-looking clumps that live off chemicals from altered rocks. Because there are not many organisms in Challengers Deep it’s diet is diverse, and it ranges from a sea cucumber to baby frilled sharks. It kills by whacking it’s prey with it’s tail. Like I have said there are very few animals in Challengers Deep, and the Finpanfly is the biggest as well as a full grown Frilled Shark. The Finpanfly only eats baby frilled sharks because it is too similar in size to eat a grown one. Therefore, the only time an animal tries to hurt the Finpanfly is when a grown Frilled Shark gets mad when the Finpanfly eats a baby Frilled Shark. Although, the Finpanfly doesn’t have to worry about getting hurt because if it feels scared it releases a poisonous gas from the pores in it’s wings. Otherwise, the Finpanfly lacks enemies in it’s habitat, thus making it a predator and not a prey.
Although when a grown Frilled Shark attacks the Finpanfly it’s first instinct is to camouflage itself with it’s giant fleshy wings that match the sand color (it’s wings are the only part of it’s body that are not purple-they are beige like the sand). It’s tail is very strong so when it is fighting offense it strongest attribute is to hit the Frilled Shark with it’s tail. The other way it defends itself is when it gets distressed or angry it releases a poisonous gas it’s wings. Once the gas is released it kills within a 100ft
