The firebombing of Dresden, a city in Germany, in february 1945 would go on to become one of the most controversial topics of the second world war. The bombing of Dresden was an aerial assault on the city of Dresden, Germany by the US and the UK. The bombing took place in four different raids on February 13th through February 15th of 1945. The bombing ended up destroying 6.5 square kilometers of land and resulting in approximately 35 000 casualties. There have been a lot of people claiming that this attack was not completely necessary and ended up in thousands of innocent deaths but the US and UK claim that Dresden was a major city involved in the war and was transporting weapons and supplies for the German army.
