One of the most important events in my life happened when I was twelve. I had just entered the fifth grade, and I was worried about how the new school year was going to go. None of my friends from the year before were in any of my new classes. I’ve known them since I was in the first grade so I never talked to anyone else besides them. Even though I didn’t have my old friends I was eager to make new ones. But I learned very quickly that it was harder to talk to new people than I thought. I was worried that if I tried talking to new people that they’d reject me if I wasn’t like them. I was scared and alone, after a while I started to isolate myself from people and not talk to anyone.
