The Fish and Wildlife service has conserved and monitored the Gray wolves in 2012-2017 as part of their 5-year act to save the species. This has worked so far since the wolves are the least concern on the endangered species list since April 26th, 2017 which was the last year for their service to these wolves ruled by the U.S Court of Appeals. Because of this recovery act, there are now 5,691 Gray wolves in the United States. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife has been asking the public to call them if they have spotted any Gray wolves dead or alive so they can understand how the wolf died and if they need to do anything about it to save more Gray wolves from becoming extinct.
