If an individual in an environment sees a certain behavior they will deem it as acceptable. Some may have certain morals or values but many times in this situations these are ignored to seem ‘cool’. This is an example of groupthink, where a person may know the correct action but does the opposite to not stand out amongst peers. A key point, that I believe may be missing in this theory is the confidence of the individual in question. If a member is new to an environment, as opposed to a senior member, the junior member might be more prompted to attempt to fit in. Groupthink theory examines how negative decisions can be influence by a group of individuals who collectively agree, however in this instance there might be opposing risks that have not been assessed.
