The vitamins that flatbread is fortified with is thiamin, folic acid, riboflavin and vitamin C. The cereals and breads in the United States are fortified with these vitamins. However, these vitamins in flatbread were added quite recently in other countries. All these vitamins that are added prevent vitamin deficiencies from occurring where the staple food is flatbread. Folic acid is an important vitamin that needs to be added since it’s hard to consume adequate amounts of it from natural foods. Even though it’s added to cereals, it’s not enough to provide to a population who eats flatbread daily. The best way to ensure that people receive their daily amount of folic acid, which is 400 mcg/day for adults, is to add it to foods that people eat
