“Never mind the way/ the tractor beam incinerates all it touches” (lines 7-8). Olzmann is telling his younger self that no matter what situation may arise that seems as if it is going to destroy you, you can handle it. Even though obstacles may occur, you are more than a conqueror. “There are things in your skull, son/ that do not belong to you, thoughts you can’t explain/ songs you’ve never heard, colors you have no name for./ We’re not just saying your special, son. We just needed a place/ to store our luggage...” (lines 10-14). Olzmann is stating that even though society may appear to take over you, it’s just a temporary. He’s telling his younger self that society will not be able to tell you what to think or see forever.
