[1] The logo is in the shape of a circle, which is significant in Anishinaabe culture because this shape is seen everywhere in nature, such as the atom, the sun, the universe, and the circle of life. Inside of this circle is a war shield, which represents the survivance of the Anishinaabe people since their migration to Minnesota, Michigan, and Canada. The four different colors represent the four directions, elements, and races of man. White is the snow in the North; red is the east and the sun; black is the west and represents death; yellow is south, heat, and corn. Outside of the inner circle that contains these four colors is a section of blue and a section of green, which represent the Grand Medicine Society, which is a secret traditional medicine society [Warren, page 43]. There are four feathers on the logo represent the four directions as well as the four winds. The hair ties on the left and right side of the inner circle represent Mother Earth and Father Sky. An arrowhead in in the center of the inner circle, which represents the hundred-year war between the Dakota and Ojibwe for the region that marked the end of their journey described in the Prophecies of the Seven Fires. In 2010, Ojibwe was officially passed as the official language of the reservation. [1] A Language Advisory Committee is also in place, which hosts language tables as well as efforts to creating resources for the Ojibwe language. This is a huge step in the direction of reviving the Ojibwe language, which was on the brink of extinction for some time. In addition to preserving the language, the tribe has a cultural center and museum, which holds artifacts about the Anishinaabe culture as well as holds several cultural workshops to provide information about the culture. The museum sponsors the Birch Bark Canoe Project, which teaches the traditional craft of making birch bark canoes in an Ojibwe language immersion setting. [1] To improve the state of the community, the Fond du Lac band offers a housing division, which offers housing assistance to members as well as low income housing. The Human Resources department at the reservation offers different programs in regards to economic status and labor. A federally funded program, the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) program, which assists members with becoming self-sufficient through training, work experience, supportive services, and education. The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is offered to every employee of the Fond du Lac reservation, which provides services for support in recognition that every day
