In the reading, the quote that stood out most prominently was by the football coach Vince Lombardi. In chapter 11 he states, “the only place where success comes before work is in the dictionary.” I definitely have seen this to be true in all aspects of my life. I especially like this quote because it applies to most everything in life such as giving speeches, doing homework and even in sports. For example, the more I have prepared and researched information for an upcoming speech, the better the finished result turns out. When I put more time and work into doing my homework, I usually earn a better grade. The truth of Vince Lombardi’s quote also applies in cross country.
