Introduction
Taking this Intro to Forensic class was not as I thought it would be, it was extremely interesting for me to learn about new stuff, but at the same time it challenged me and taught me things that I thought I could learn just from watching crime shows, but was I wrong, So for our course project we had to research a Criminal Justice website, find an article that catches our eye and write a report on it. Choosing my website to find the perfect one was hard for me because there were just so many and a lot of them were interesting but finally I chose the NCJRS, National Criminal Justice Reference Service, and within this website I chose an article that may be on the side where a lot of people don’t like to touch on because of a topic a lot of people find to be a really sensitive topic, Rape and Sexual violence. And to make it an even smaller subject, because of how broad that subject tends to be, I decided to write about the article Untested Evidence in Sexual Assault cases.

Or what a lot of the investigators call SAK, sexual assault kits are often called rape kits, and may contain vaginal, oral, and anal swabs, pubic hair combings, or fingernail scrapings. But collecting high-quality and consisting evidence can be a problem in rural areas because they may not have the access to a sexual assault nurse examiner, which may be a reason why untested evidence in sexual assault cases rise. The article tells the readers about an issue a lot of people don’t notice or aren’t hearing about enough, sexual assault evidence that hasn’t been submitted to crime labs for testing and how many untested evidence in sexual assault cases there are.
