The career I want to have when I leave high school is a job that deals with forensic science. The reason I chose this job is because I have always love forensics, and I watch a lot of forensics shows like CSI, Criminal Minds, NCIS, Law and Order, and things like that and they always seem to catch my eye. Plus I am taking a forensic class now. This is a one and a half page essay on my future career, and I hope I make a good grade on it.
TV shows like criminal minds and things like that make forensics look upbeat and fast paced but when in reality it isn’t. It is more likely to be methodical and detailed; most universities don’t even have a bachelor’s degree in forensics because the job outlook can be very limited for the person or persons without graduate training. To work in a forensic field your major should reflect the forensic discipline you want to work in. for an example, drug analysts should have a degree heavy in chemistry while people who want to work in the DNA analyst should have an emphasis on molecular biology. If you have criminal record you have little to no chance getting a job as a forensic scientist. Forensic science is a very small occupation there are only about 4,000 crime laboratories in the United States. Most crime laboratories employ scientists in the areas of forensic chemistry. Forensic biology and criminalistics Most Forensic Scientists work in larger cities or organizations and some can have irregular hours.
