Those positions are normally hands-on jobs. A lot of your community colleges have the choice where you can get you associate’s degree in forestry. You can leave it as it is or you can transfer it to a four-year college as part of your bachelor’s degree. When you are a senior forest ranger where you have been one for a while you most likely will be offered a promotion. You are offered the role most of the time to step up and take care of a team or be a captain. Becoming a captain or being a team lead comes with more things that are attached to your job that you got to do.
