While reading Forgotten Fire we are introduced to our main character Vahan, Vahan is a twelve-year-old boy who lives with his family and is put through a tough journey to survive and fend for himself. While in the movie we watched we get introduced to a character named Shrek, Shrek is a big ogre who is always grumpy and soon has his swamp overtaken by fairytale creatures. After seeing his swamp taken over, he decides to go to the king, which sends him on a quest throughout the movie which leads to his own personal obstacles. Shrek and Vahan have similar hero journey archetypes, but they have very different paths while they still have the same structures for each of their paths.

The call to adventure is when, during a certain point in the character's life, they're given notice that everything is going to change whether they know it or not. Both Vahan and Shrek share this hero's journey trait in different situations, this is because the call to adventure for Shrek was when he goes to the kingdom to make the new prince get rid of all the fairy tale creatures that took up his swamp.
