I have come to realize through my personal assessment done in class with the creation health that my choice in nutrition and activity levels plays a huge part in my overall health. Based on that I have decided to chose what I eat and drink carefully as wall as add activities to my everyday schedule. As I learn more about the impact of my choices on my health I have decided to educate myself about various health promoting principles, theories and research that will help me improve my health.
After watching the movie Forks over Knives, I have started eating more plant based foods and cutting down on meat, this is because the movie educated me on how I can use diet and exercise to better my overall health. Before I had the mind set that I needed more meat in order to get the amount of protein and calcium the body required, but now I know that I can get all the nutrient the body need from eating plant based foods. By doing this in a few days to weeks I have seen some difference in how tired I get through out the day and also difference in my mood. Knowing that I have the will power to better my life not just for today but also years to come encourages me to emphasis more on the Creation Health Concepts. Most importantly I focus more on choice and nutrition since these two are huge influence on achieving success and maintaining my overall health. By using the trans-theoretical model of health promotion, I prioritize my choices in order to eliminate some unimportant things in my life and replaced them with things like activity and buying whole grains, vegetables and more plant based food instead of eating out.
